Using Facebook to Promote Your Event – Best Practices

Written by LSAV Live | Jun 27, 2019 7:12:00 PM

When it comes to content creation and promotion, Facebook is a force to be reckoned with. Outside of our day to day timeline scrolling, messenger chatting and meme sharing, when used correctly, Facebook can be an impactful way to help market an event and the content therein. If you want to improve how your Facebook usage impacts your next event, here’s a few best practices to keep in mind.

Hashtags Aren’t Just for Tweeting

From your first post to your last, you should have a hashtag associated with your event. Hashtags make your online content easier to find within Facebook. It’s especially useful if your content uses common phrases that could populate thousands of results that aren’t related to your event. Minimize any confusion and come up with a unique hashtag for attendees to use to make your event and its details accessible.

Raise Your Hand if You Use Facebook Videos

Let’s be honest - Most of us are more likely to watch a short video than sit and read through a long text post while scrolling on social media. Human’s are naturally stimulated by color, movement and interactive social tools. Using video posts or Facebook polls in your marketing campaigns are great ways to capture people’s attention and reel them in to your net of content. Videos, especially Facebook Live streams, are a great way of directing traffic to your website where people are more likely to research your event in depth. Polls, alternatively, not only engage potential attendees but also provide insight on the people who are seeing and interreacting with your content.

What About Paid Ads?

Paid ads tricky. On one hand, when strategically planned, paid ads put your content right in the face of those you want to see it. On the other hand, the effectiveness of an ad can be influenced by many factors. Despite how much money you spend, it’s likely you may not see that return of investment (ROI) for some time, if at all. That’s why ad tracking is essential when using Facebook ads. Facebook has an ads manager for you to test and see how well your ads are doing so you can create the most effective campaigns with the least amount of money.

Tag - You’re It

Most of us are familiar with tagging or being tagged in an unsightly photo from our previous night out. However, for marketing purposes, tagging collaborators can be a great way to promote your event. For example, tagging photos means your content can appear on the public pages of those you’ve tagged – this increases your audience and the number of people seeing your content.

Whether it’s a large affair or a small gathering, Facebook is an invaluable tool for promoting an event. Try using one of Facebook’s many tools to help you gain the online presence you want for your next event.
